The judgment is a cruel blow – but this is not the end of the challenge . . .

Unfortunately,  Justice Holgate dismissed the legal challenge of the Government’s approval (for a second time) of a damaging dual carriageway through Stonehenge World Heritage Site. While this is deeply disappointing news, the battle isn’t over and Save Stonehenge WHS will be appealing his ruling.  To do this we need your support again another £15,000 needs to be raised immediately to seek permission to appeal.  If granted we’ll need to raise more for the court hearing, hence the new stretch target totaling a terrifying £100,000k.

Please consider donating if you can and sharing the crowdfunder with your friends and family.  More  HERE.

Can you donate towards Stonehenge Alliance campaign funds?

The Stonehenge Alliance is a not for profit organisation that only ever uses its modest funds to support the campaign and voluntary efforts of our activists and supporters.

To use PayPal you do not need a PayPal account.  It accepts all major credit and debit cards.

Our campaign is run by a small team of volunteers in partnership with Alliance member organisations. Please consider contributing to our campaign funds if you can.

We need money for:

• Commissioning independent specialist advice, data analysis, technical reports, as well as professional and planning issues.

• Publicity such as flyers, banners, social media ads and videos.

• Website development, IT security, email fees and other online activities.

• Sundry items such as postage and necessary materials.

Your generosity has produced results!

1. Damaging road scheme thrown out!

Thanks to you, we were able to actively support Save Stonehenge World Heritage Site Limited to meet their hugely ambitious £80,000 legal fund target to challenge Government over their shocking decision to drive an Expressway through Stonehenge World Heritage Site which the judge found not to be a legal decision and quashed the scheme.

Message from the challengers, the directors of Save Stonehenge World Heritage Site Ltd:

Our heartfelt thanks go to all of our supporters without whom we could not have made this legal challenge.

Despite this fantastic victory, the battle is not over. The Transport Secretary has approved virtually the scheme once again.  Please continue to support the Stonehenge Alliance campaign.

2. UNESCO objects in strongest of terms

We have been encouraged in our campaign efforts by UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee decision to consider placing the Stonehenge WHS on the list of World Heritage in Danger if the road goes ahead in its present form.
